THREE application forms have been sought for the position of Mayo ladies senior football team manager ahead of this Friday evening’s deadline for nominations.

So far, former Mayo footballer Liam McHale is the only confirmed candidate to have sought an application form for the vacant post.

McHale’s former Mayo team-mate Dermot Flanagan will be part of his background team should he be appointed.

Mayo LGFA secretary Brian Galvin told The Mayo News yesterday (Monday) that three application forms had been sought for the position, which was vacated by Michael Moyles several weeks ago.

Another name linked with the role is Seán Deane, who managed the Mayo Under-17 boys’ to two successive Connacht championships, before deciding not to seek an extension to his term earlier this summer.

However, Diane O’Hora will not be in contention after Kildare LGFA announced on Sunday that the former Mayo forward was staying on as Lilywhites manager for next season, after guiding them to the All-Ireland Intermediate title this year.

One application form has been returned for the position of Mayo LGFA Minor girls manager, which has been vacant since Mayo LGFA Chairman Des Phillips stepped down from the role earlier this year.

Applications are also being sought for the position of Mayo Under-16 girls’ team manager.

The deadline for all three positions is 5pm this Friday, September 15.

In an interview with The Mayo News, Mayo ladies star Fiona McHale said that she believed an All-Ireland senior title for the first time since 2003 was ‘attainable’ for the county team.

“I think for whoever takes over, it’s a real exciting position to take on because you’re coming into a group where standards have been built, expectations have been built, a squad has been built,” said McHale, who praised the ‘professionalism’ brought by Michael Moyles to the set-up.  new balance 920 fit, new balance 920 grey, new balance 920 reddit

“This group has been built over the last three years, so whoever comes in, I’d be expecting that they’ll be really looking to take it to another level and not rebuild what has already been built.”
